About the Area:
This home is the ideal base from which to explore the idyllic lakeside town of Menaggio and the various towns and attractions via ferry, car or bus including historic villas, spa, beaches, restaurants and cafes and bars. Popular attractions within easy reach are the mid-lake town of Bellagio – for shopping in picturesque alleyways – the west branch villas Carlotta and Balbianello and Como with its historic old town. Day trips can also be made to Milan, Bergamo, Lugano and even St Moritz.

Nearest ski resort 1 hour 15 minutes by car to Medessimo and 2 hours to St. Moritz

Important notes on accomodation:
Pool usually open May to September weather permitting
140 euro final cleaning. Midweek paid for cleaning available on request if prebooked ahead of stay.
Changeover day: Saturday, flexible out of season.
Not suitable for elderly or the infirm, due to steps. Home on 3 levels including entry level of garage
Central village of Menaggio and ferry port is a 5 minute drive.

We had an amazing holiday, I would certainly recommend the apartment with its breathtaking view and swimming pool. The only thing to take into account is that the garbage should be dropped at another village which was slightly inconvenient. But overall we were very happy with our stay.

A lovely spacious apartment with astronomically gorgeous views from the main bedroom and the living area. Quiet lovely clean pool, again with stunning views across the lake and surroundings. Steep walk up to the pool but worth it.
The appt is up a steep hill from Menaggio (you are in the Alps so it’s not surprising) so you do need a car to really make the most of things. That said there is a fantastic restaurant a short ( fairly level) walk away from the appt.
Morning sun in the apartment, evening is in the shade of the mountains. No air con in the appt but fans supplied and we shut the curtains in the day which meant the temperature was fine even on the hottest days. Great garage space for car.
Menaggio is a great starting point to access the whole lake – ferries running cheaply all the time all over the mid lake.
Mountain walks were amazing tho not for the faint hearted.
Highly recommended and we will definitely return to lake Como.

The place was beautiful with the most amazing view! Definitely worth getting a car to make it easy to get around as a long walk away! Loved all the recommendation we were given for the area, including restaurants and boat hire!

We stayed at the house as a family of 4 with 2 children aged 9 and 11. The property was great with plenty of space to spread out but also with good living space and 2 balconies to have meals and play games as a family. It’s also very well equipped. The view of the lake is absolutely breathtaking, you can never get bored of it and we spent many evenings after the children were in bed just sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine taking in our surroundings.
The property is up a hill but there is about a 15mins walked down a ‘heritage’ footpath off the road to a village below (Nobiallo) where there is a really friendly bar for drinks and snacks and also great boat hire. From there you can walk into Menaggio in about 20mins. Or, it’s about a 20-30min walk with footpaths and shortcut passages all the way to Menaggio. No problem at all as a family and we did it most days without a problem – great for a meal in the evenings without having to worry about parking or driving.

We had a wonderful week at Apartment Bella Vista Belvedere. It is a bit of a trek into Menaggio on foot, but if you are reasonably fit, it’s worth the compromise – the views from the terrace over the lake are fantastic. It was also very peaceful, although we were lucky that there were few other people in the building – I can imagine it getting nosier in high season. The pool is also lovely, on the hill overlooking the apartments – I swam every morning.
The two restaurants local to the property (within 10 mins walk), Trattoria La Vecchia Magnolia and Ristorante Pizzeria CO.RI. are both excellent with helpful, friendly staff. We ate 2 nights at each, so you don’t have to go in to town in the evening if you don’t want to. The one evening we did eat out in Menaggio we were able to get a cab back up the hill reasonably easily.
The apartment is spacious and well equipped. We had everything we needed with none of the frustrations that can happen in rental properties.

Barrie & Julie were excellent hosts. They gave us many ideas and recommendations for the Lake Como area. The apartment was spacious & clean. The views from the 2 balconies are breathtaking…a perfect spot to enjoy your lunch or coffee and a book.
The only negative is you have to drive to a specific location to take trash & recycling before you leave.
All in all we give this apartment a 4.8
